Batter up! Right around here, there was once a real baseball park! It was called Freeman's Park, and it sat in Emeryville, between Oakland and Berkeley. More than 120 years ago, a team called the Oakland Clamdiggers played here. Yes, Clamdiggers!

Imagine cheering for a team named after digging clams. They played here from 1899 to 1902. Later, the Oakland Oaks played here too, in 1903 and again from 1907 to 1912. The whole ball field was a square of land with city streets all around it, like a big box. Left field ended at 59th Street, and right field ended at Fremont Street.

Crack! Look out the window and spot a building. Pretend it is the outfield wall, and shout, home run!
