Every kid should get to hear the story. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA on tumbly.ai and to follow Apple and Android accessibility guidelines in our apps.
What we do today
- Listen-first design: RoadStory is made to be heard. Stories are narrated, and the words light up on screen as they're read, for early readers and kids who are hard of hearing.
- Big, simple controls with icons and labels, made for small hands.
- Light and dark mode, with text contrast checked in both.
- Website: a skip link, keyboard navigation, text descriptions for images, and pages that work at any width and zoom level.
What we're working on
- Full VoiceOver and TalkBack labels for every control in the apps.
- A list view of nearby stories as an alternative to the map.
- A tap-to-start, tap-to-stop option for "hold to ask".
- Respecting "Reduce Motion" in every animation.
- An independent accessibility audit before our app store launch.
